How we can help?

People who are newly diagnosed often need support from others who have been through the same stages of shock, adapting and acceptance. Many feel guilty and think there is stigma attached to diabetes. It is important to let people with diabetes know that they are valued, and can contribute much to their community.

The High Peak Diabetic Self Help Group try to make it easier to understand and treat.

Whichever ‘Type’ a person has, the support and comradeship offered by the group helps to make it easier to understand why certain treatments are needed, and also what the complications might be.

The High Peak Diabetic Self Help Group welcome anyone, whether they have diabetes, or a member of their family or circle of friends’ needs information.
